Mitch,
You gave us a link to IMB's last three Annual Statements. Isn't that
Income Statement revealing?
The big decline in Operating Profits seems to be due to the President
and the Sales/Marketing departments not delivering the sales that are their
responsibility to deliver. I don't see any numbers to indicate to me that IMB
ran into problems because EDP was deficient.
However there is one thing we have to remember as operating people.
Most times top management is sales oriented and relatively ignorant of
operations in all its aspects. It is an to the best of my knowledge a competition
between those of us in operations and our competitors in other companies. We
have to constantly be concerned with delivering better and cheaper work to our
employers.
I am not saying this to point a finger at anyone. Instead I am only
reminding. Hopefully as GT win the boardroom wars we will get managers that
understand the need to communicate realistically to the operating departments.
This communication is needed so the operators can make realistic evaluations
of the job in front of them.
