fnerd is short for FutureNerd, but also a pun on fnord,
that word they train you not to see even though it's
peppered through all the text you read.
i got back on the list to respond to some questions from
Robin Hanson, & i think i gave the best answers i have
for the time being. they're not great; all answers to
the Fermi paradox are stretches as far as i can see.
meanwhile it's too easy to get sucked in. and then
PAMgate happened. holy moley. i just spent a day
emailing people like a distraught lunatic. ... okay,
so maybe i am a distr, never mind, the point is i
need to do other things.
it's been inspiring and puzzling.
