Yes, they have "nicknames", actually personal pronouns of endearment
that one uses instead of a name. The accidental use of a name at an
unpropitious moment can cause untold bad luck, at the worst. I don't
use pronouns of endearment in English; I just ignore the name
altogether. I can't stand those Americans who insist on tacking your
name onto every sentence spoken to you. Robéto
