I dunno if Mark's article was discussed here at all when it
appeared, as I was on holiday and can't be arsed to look in the
archive, but I just wanted to say I have a nagging suspicsion that
ZPE is the reason for the Fermi Paradox: when a civilisation first
tries to tap it, they find out the hard way that they can't control
the amount of energy released and bang goes their planet.
Might explain gamma-ray bursters too.
