I'm not going to go into great detail on this, but Leonid Gavrilov
actually has a relatively nice analysis of the complexities of
aging research, progress, etc. in a recent JAAM interview:
http://www.src.uchicago.edu/~gavr1/Interview-JAAM.pdf
The last couple of pages get into the discussion of "categories"
of "anti-aging medicine" -- from real science to flash marketing.
[Note that I don't agree completely with everything Leonid says --
I don't think he may be factoring in stem cell research and
is probably uninformed with respect to nanotech -- but with
respect to "aging" and the anti-aging "industry" his opinions
seem to be pretty close to the mark IMO.]

research.
