Hi Alex, thank you for publicly revealing your thought processes
here. I do appreciate that for each one who voices most opinions
or feelings, there are plenty in the same boat who do not so bother.
But I am perplexed, even more than I was in the Tranquility Bay
about how people can be a certain way, and so perhaps you could
enlighten me further? I would really appreciate it!
First, I am not at all certain that I or we have even properly
characterized your feelings and thoughts.
A. We all feel bad when someone says bad things about us,
especially so, I think, when it is of a personal nature.
So:
1. Do you sometimes not post about certain things because
you fear that someone will insult you?
B. Often one feels let down when one's cherished ideas
or idea is held up to criticism, not all of which is
constructive. Sometimes some one will simply say,
"that is a bad idea because of...", and that can be both
insulting and disappointing. So:
2. Do you find yourself reluctant to advance certain
ideas because there are probably people, even
certain individuals who have more expertise or
more experience, who are liable to show that your
idea was not well thought out or contained notions
which (in hindsight) are obviously wrong?
3. Do you think that adopting a nom-de-plume as some
posters do might help? I've never done that, but
perhaps one would feel less bad if one's alias
were flamed or destructively criticized, or even
constructively criticized.
Thanks for your candor,
Lee
