Maybe it is due to less stress caused by worrying about the future. After
all, the French have a much better social safety net. If a Frenchmen loses
his/her job, he/she can go on the dole for years at a time. Also, health
care is subsidized heavily by the state. No worries about losing one's
health care, unlike the average American, who faces the street after a few
months of umemployment, and only emergency care is cheap.
