Leibniz, Information, Math and Physics by G.J. Chaitin
<<The information-theoretic point of view proposed by Leibniz in 1686 and developed by algorithmic information theory (AIT) suggests that mathematics and physics are not that different. This will be a first-person account of some doubts and speculations about the nature of mathematics that I have entertained for the past three decades, and which Ihave now been incorporated in a digital philosophy paradigm shift that is sweeping across the sciences.>>

This work seems a homage to Leibniz and does briefly mention Wolfram and Fredkin on page 9.
Fredkin's site is: http://digitalphilopsophy.org
Hell, I like it anyway, but I like stuff by Rudy Rucker, Cliff Pickover, and Ian Stewart, John Casti, and the like. I do not have the direct link right now, but do a "physics pre-print" on yahoo, and scroll down to do a "chaitin" search in the math area.
