Ha! Of course, we men always knew that we were
superior - poor women with only one X chromosome
turned on, while men get the X AND the extras on the
Y!
At least, that's what the newspaper said (leaving out
the jubilation, that is). Altho, I wonder if it's
true. Is one of the X's turned off in women? I had
read, long ago, that one of the reasons for the
instability of males, in many, many respects, as well
as the shape of various bell curves, was that bad
genes on X are always expressed in men, having only
the one copy, while women were able to mask a bad gene
on the spare X. Thus, a lot more idiots and geniuses
among men - altho, once in a while, a woman gets two
copies of the best possible X, so you see a few women
way out there on the curve, beyond where any man can
get.
So - super women of extropy (I assume we got a more
than random scattering of those XX (no pun intended) -
which is correct? Is one X turned off? Or is it
random from cell to cell, so that half of the cells
get a bad gene, while the other half get the good one
turned on?
