Or, we could enforce the existing list rules against ad hominem. Let people
talk about politics all they want. They just can't insult or attack list
members while doing so. Maybe the problem isn't really politics, it is the
ad hominem attacks being mixed in.
Or, we could enforce the POL: keyword on political discussions. Several
people have suggested that people should just delete or filter out what they
don't want to see. Prefixes would help group these items together in our
in-boxes and would make filtering much simpler and consistent. If we used
prefixes more effectively, everybody could filter their view of the list
into the exact topics they want to see.
These both used to be practiced on this list, but we have gotten sloppy and
forgotten.
