Mike,
I was raised to have the manners of a southern gentleman. When people
get cavalier about my country's honor I tend to react by feeling the need to
call for pistols and swords.
Now it is true that Harvey's piece didn't pass the belly laugh test
but still raising does count -- sometimes.
Now, lets talk about the Iraqis sitting around flicking porch lights.
I am sure there are patriotic Iraqis that dislike us and Sadaam equally. So
some of that explains the porch lights. I don't see those folks negatively
even if they do put themselves on the other side.
On the other hand if you will go look at the Al Zawiya site and the
middle eastern media you will also find they have guerilla troops in Iraq to
destabilize both us and any effective government. Those surrounding governments
are scared of any government that treats its people fairly and is effective in
raising their standard of living. Of course you and others can find that out
for yourself if you read. Heck, those guerillas have even been known to
write home that the local Arabs shot them in the back.
