The bottleneck appears to be at tick.javien.com
The path my messages takes is:
1) My mail server
2) majordomo running on extropy.org
3) tick.javien.com
4) My mail server
The long pause (when it occurs) is between tick.javien.com receiving
the message from majordomo and my mail server receiving the message
from tick.javien.com
