    I would probably look at distributed agent systems and swarm
    robotics too. Once the nanodevices are up and running, they will
    need a lot of robotics programming linking sensors to actuators.
    Getting large numbers to work together will be either akin to
    getting swarm robots to do useful stuff (for freeform
    applications), or designing a robotic assembly line (for
    micromanufacturing designs).

    Probably this knowledge needs to be combined with a bit of
    chemistry knowledge to understand what is going on and what is
    needed. The likely developing teams of nanodevices are probably
    going to be heavily multidisciplinary, and for that we need
    computer scientists who can speak with chemists and biologists.
