Since nanotech is based more on molecular interactions than software, I
would guess that a biochemistry degree would be more useful than a computer
science degree. Low-level hardware would be more important than software.
Assembly programming and bit manipulation is closer to nanotech than
high-level languages and flow control constructs. When nanotech progresses
enough for replication and cooperation, then neural-nets and automata
programming would become more important. I don't expect software,
databases, or robotics to much to contribute to nanotech in the first few
generations, until nanotech evolves into larger meta-organizations.
