I'm not aware of any human-chimp crossbreeding projects. Are you?

Part of the motivation for this proposed change is obviously in the
area of animal rights. Apparently the idea of 'social promotion' as
used in public schools to move substandard students along with their
peers, irrespective of their actual grades or aptitudes, has crossed
    the boundary over into anthropology.

Can we imagine that some nuts will try to cram more and more species
    into the Homo genus???

Not that I'm against protecting chimps. They are obviously the most
likely candidates for any sort of uplift program we might choose to
undertake in the future. Their existing sign language abilities clearly
    indicate active child-like intelligence.
