I've been converting text to speech with my Macintosh since the early 1990's
(except I had cassette tapes back then). It is a wonderful way to have a
computer voice "read" text to you. I used it when I was commuting long
distances. I studied text books, earned certifications, and learned new
subjects while driving long stretches of empty highway.
