If you will look in von Hayek's Road to Serfdom you will find Liberal
is only the term that socialists adopted to cover their identity in the late
nineteenth century when the term socialist had become discredited and
disreputable. Goodness knows what use the term has been put to since.
I believe the socialists got term by going back and taking it from the
founding fathers in the American Revolution. If so that is a clear case of
using a label to attempt to conceal.
