Just when you got over my chicken jokes of the last month, I have
noticed a true story on the FOX News channels show "War Stories with
Ollie North" that the US Marines Expeditionary Forces in Iraq have a
rather sophisticated NBC detection and countermeasures system. The
heart of this is a sealed NBC detection vehicle that costs $2 million
apiece. It contains sophisticated NBC weapons detection devices, from
the most advanced digital devices to a heretofore unannounced and
classified weapons system known affectionately by the Marines as
    "Geraldine".
Geraldine is obviously the product of a highly advanced defense weapons
system R&D project. She probably soaked up millions of dollars of
taxpayer money developing, testing, and proving her effecacy in her
    mission.
Geraldine is a chicken. The only surviving chicken, it seems, of a
flock shipped over to Iraq from highly secretive chemical weapons labs
in the US. Most couldn't take the harrowing journey by cargo ship.
Geraldine, however, is cut from a different cloth. She is a Marine, by
god, and dammit, she doesnt' take any crap. She is on the front line of
detection of WMD, willing to do her part for God, Country, and Colonel
Sanders. Geraldine rides along with the boys on convoy, nonplussed by
the dust, the dirt, the noise and stench of battle. The boys rely on
her, and she knows it. She will cross any road, bridge any stream,
highway, trail or track in search of WMD, and won't stop until she
finds it. She is The Chicken of Mass Destruction.....
