This news story is about medical research on blind people who are getting
implants. Some of the implants are configured to work in conjunction with a
handheld video camera. The latest embodiments are somewhat functional. They
are able to distinguish between objects by walking around and pointing the
camera at the objects. The camera feeds video into the eye (via a cord, I
suppose) and thus into their implant, which is in their eye socket.
Blind people walking looking at you with their cameras! Weird, but neat!
