Of course you are right. I don't think that is even the object of
discussion. IMHO the object of discussion is whether or not we can continue
like a bunch of Polly Anna's treating Cuba, Libya, etc., as if they are
perfectly respectable and entitled to be in charge of important committees in
the UN. Are we going to accept having France use its veto power to stop
enforcement of a UN edict because to do so would interfere with their
(France) violating UN sanctions in order to advance French commercial
interests?
As you point out, the world is not a perfect world. But to accept the
conduct we have seen lately is not a matter of boot strapping our way up. It
is a matter of accepting evil and pretending to be sophisticated.
