When "google answers" was first in beta, I decided to offer $5 to any of
their supposed experts who could tell me what is wrong with the Doomsday
Argument. To make it more interesting (I wanted my $5 worth) I didn't tell
them the official name or origin of the argument. I did not want to steer
them to any web resources. Instead I just offered the argument in my own
words, and asked if anyone there could tell me what is wrong with the it.
I deflected their condescending remarks and wrong rebuttals for a few days,
until someone told my "advisor" about Nick Bostrom's webpages. I then
received a humble official answer along the lines of "Gee, I really dunno!
Very interesting!"
I paid the guy his $5 anyway, just for being a good sport about it. Such
fun. :)
