    To be fair (to the Luddites? Yeah, well, justice
    doesn't always work in any one person's favor): it's
    not worth their time to try. Perhaps they are aware
    of overwhelming evidence supporting their position.
    The extra profit margin they would get by publicizing
    this evidence is, in their view, on par with or
    substantially less than the labor costs of dressing it
    up into a coherent argument and advertising. They get
    more purchases for their dollar by appealing to
    emotion than to logic...or, at least, so they believe.
    (It is sadly the case that a lot of marketers woefully
    underestimate the number of Americans who make
    monetary decisions based on logic instead of emotions,
    even if that number is rather smaller than most on
    this list would prefer.)

    So, mere lack of effort does not prove impossibility
    of effort.
