    Actually, since Mary and Joseph are each descended from the two houses
    of King David, their union was a dynastic one. That Mary Magdalene was
    descended from the house of Saul and is rumored to have been Jesus'
    bride at Cana, and that JC was crucified (i.e. a Roman punishment for
    political crimes, not a jewish punishment for heresy), it follows that
    Jesus was presumed by many to be a valid pretender to the throne... and
    not a spiritual messiah.
