When I was very young (6), I had an ear infection that punctured my
eardrum and left scar tissue. I had another ear infection 10 years
after (I didn't drain my ears properly of the salt water after
swimming), but even so, I acquired my scuba certification (age 17).
Yes, the ears are sensitive, but surprisingly resliliant, and I
would guess that you would have little to worry about if you put
your ears in that kind of pressure-filled situation now.
