Because they were consuming more bone marrow?
There aren't many modern human societies in which bone marrow
is on the menu.

I would tend to agree with Mez -- *but* there may be a distinction
with respect to "taller" vs. "bigger and stronger bones". If at
some point we were co-breeding with the Neanderthals, then I'd
accept the bigger/stronger argument. I think the jury is still
out on whether H. sapiens eliminated them or simply absorbed them.
