road. No one could have dreamed that chickens were being scrutinized as
someone on a farm studies animals that grow and fatten in preparation for
slaughter. Few chickens even considered the possibility of life across the
road. And yet, across the vast lanes of the road, minds immeasurably
superior to the chickens' regarded their coop with hungry eyes, and slowly,
