So the European Parliament is out in force, looking very conservative
American these days. I admit I haven't been following any lead-in to this,
but it does seem somewhat out of the blue. (Even if I have been predicting
more of this sort of thing to come). Embryonic stem cell research isn't
banned without more voting and buy-in by member states, but still.

I'm pondering the merits of putting together a Longevity Meme action page
for those who want to give their euro MP a piece of their mind (since they
seem to need it). The fun starts when thinking about finding and contacting
your eMP. Admittedly it's a lot easier than it used to be. So far as I can
see, you go to:
pick your language to get to:
http://www.europarl.eu.int/home/default_en.htm
and then go member hunting at the less-than-intuitive:

The party affiliation has me somewhat confused (once you get to the members
themselves, there are fax numbers, and clear bios though). I don't see a way
to find your eMP by specific geographical location. Does anyone have a
better resource for doing this sort of thing? Something more streamlined
like www.congress.org for the US system? A coherent explanation of the
structure and affliations within the European Parliament would also be
useful, not to mention some educated commentary on how we got the point of
eMPs voting to criminalize embyonic stem cell research.
