LiftPort.com had a neat complement to the usual
FAQ, a FMC (Frequent Mis-Conceptions). One point in that
document addressed this. I didn't save it, and the site
has only a press release up at their site just now. If
someone reminds me in a few weeks, I'll see Edwards's book
"The Space Elevator" addresses this point.
