This is _really_ important. You don't see scientists etc who are taken
seriously by the general public doing luddite-oriented TV. There is
publicity, but then there is luddite media. It always does a lot more
harm than good.
The only exception I'd make is charity/comedy shows in which it is
obvious that nothing is serious (ie, Patrick Moore doing the conga on
new year's eve TV singing some mad song about aerosols and ozone
depletion). I believe we should all avoid like the plague any 'luddite'
shows as not only beneath our dignity but positively dangerous.
My reply to such requests is now 'No, sorry; I'm a scientist. I don't
think people would be interested in hard science on a show such as this.
Try David Icke' (insert name of those you wish to make jackasses out of
themselves).
