Anders, it also depends on where the immigrants come from. Who do you trust,
and yes, as we have all seen, this trust issue can change dramatically. My
sense is, that immigrants from Latin American have a decent chance of being
brainwashed to be Americans, in some fashion. This may erupt in a nasty
suprise, in the intermediate future, for all concerned; but that's what makes
ballgames. I tend to be impressed on how quickly South Asians have
assimilated, especially Indians and Vietnamese, Chinese, and Koreans. The
show-stopper is, of course, Militant Islam, and I see that as Europe's
    dilemma, currently.

Japan is purusing robotic nurses rather than accept Korean ones. The
ageing Europe is making immigration harder and harder, and so on.
Demonstrates that protecting vested local interests and prejudices can
overwhelm rationality on a huge scale.

This is actually why I would bet on the US - it has a younger population
and a far more immigration friendly policy, which means it is less
    likely to stagnate.
