OK I looked over the new archive tool, which is
about the coolest thing Ive seen in months.
Evidently the karma rating is tied to the number
of times people go into the archives and read
one's past posts, and how many replies that post
gets. If one often posts on arcane topics, even
if highly extropic, one's karma drops.
A good coder jockey could easily write a script
which would wander thru the archives looking
for one's own posts, and simply open them.
Such a karma-producing gawkbot would drag one
out of the red, should one find oneself deep
in a whuffie hole.
And of course Spike and the Gawkbots would make
a great name for a rock band, as would Whuffie
Hole Surfers.
