    Not only is it true, but as I'm reading the context, it
    shows respect for negotiation and trying to get along.
    You might be thinking that in the context of working very
    hard to get agreements from a number of people, especially
    if someone asked you why you were working so hard.

    The logic works too, because if the last phrase "just so long as
    I'm dictator" were not added, then the sentence would clearly
    fail to be true. Things are easier in a dictatorship, yes,
    but only for the dictator.

    Although I may be reading it from one biased perspective,
    I don't quite get the logic of someone who's reading it
    from the opposite perspective.
