I hate to burst your bubble, but as a Canadian who occasionally travels
abroad, I am often mistaken for an American. When I carefully point out that
I am, in fact, Canadian, the receptions get much warmer and the glowering
faces go away. Americans may not exactly be "Hated" around the world, but
there are many places where you are more tollerated than welcome, at least
compared to the citizens of other countries.
(And I've never visited Africa or the Arab world. My experiences come from
visiting places like Australia and Europe...)
