Regarding those cowboying Americans, and my comment
yesterday was that other nations must have cows and
therefor cowboys, and that these would need to do
all the same things for all the same reasons:
I began to wonder what is the profession that is
most unique to a given nation, so that one could
refer to that when a nation is doing something
its own way. Not lawyers, for altho the legal
system is different in all countries, it isnt
*that* different. I can imagine lawyers in England,
Australia, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, etc, doing nearly
the same job in nearly the same way as U.S. attorneys.
Then it hit me: tax accountants. The tax code is
probably the most unique to any given nation. Do
other western nations have proles who help you
calculate your taxes? Do other nations have long
forms and books explaining in excruciating detail
which items are deductible, etc?
