Spike,
It seems to me that regardless of whether we imagine our possible
downfall to be war, terrorist, epidemic or sheerest accident we need to
spread out. So far we are analogous to a baby determined to never leave the
nursery. That isn't exactly correct as many of us are pushing to leave the
nursery. But it is close enough for government work.
