Actually, there are aquatic parasites, especially in
and around the Amazon (and thus possibly also near the
surface in the nearby ocean) that lodge in, ah, very
thin spaces. Like the tract that sperm come out. Of
course, this particular parasite only causes effective
sterility in males. ^_-

What's out there? Deserts and arctic areas aren't
more widely known for their resources than other land
areas.
That said, practice for the sake of practice has been
done. Check, for instance, the Mars Society's work on
Devon Island.
