Yes, its tragic and nagging and unless there is a marketable solution,
somewhere in the world, oil will continue to power transportation for several
decades to come. The only sunny side to this is the possibility of extracting
vast amounts of petroleum form undeveloped areas, like off the coast ow West
Africa, to name just one basin which appears to have Persian gulf amounts of
oil (M. King Hubbert not withstanding), as well as off Brazil.
