    I chat with some friends using msn or yahoo, but I do not recommend them as
    a way of having intellectual discussions. They are better for gossip and
    trivia, in my experience. They are supposedly good for cybersex as well, but
    I don't have the benefit of that experience. :)

    A good e-mail is likely to have more meat than anything you can do with a
    chat program, where your interlocutor will get frustrated if you type more
    than a few lines at a time.
