I did some interesting calcs this evening about how
to get some angular momentum from the earth's gravity
to a space cable which is being formed by nanobots,
as in your story. Its way cool.
Right now tho, I gotta get ready for a nice valentines
day motorcycle trip. See ya in three days. spike
ps Think this over while I am away. A long thin
rod in orbit will tend to align itself pointed toward
the earth. Why do you suppose that is? Think of
it as analogous to the way iron filings align themselves
in a magnetic field. The gravitational analog to that
is a rod aligning itself along a gravitational field. s
