           You are getting way beyond my humble ability to calculate -- I just
    don't have the data.
           For example, Looking at our two alternative systems (the El and the
    superhighway) it is not immediately apparent to me which is the most
    expensive to build (initially) or to maintain. Then there is the expense of
    the rail cars versus the private cars. I do know that the drivers pay for
    the private cars. In each case the biggest item seems to be cost of the
    land. In some cases the superhighway seems to require a wider swath of land
    but as we get into the city it doesn't.
