Naddy,
My information is that Europeans are dependent on middle eastern oil
but that the US buys very little oil from that area. In addition we have
resources of our own that we can use in an emergency that will last us until
the current crop of middle eastern leaders are dead and gone.
This is not about oil, it is about disposing of some undesirables that
have been either attacking us or threatening to. It is also true that the
world after they are gone will also be fraught with difficulty. It is
because we correctly appreciate the difficulty that we didn't remove Sadaam
ten years ago. That attempt was a failure and it is now time to bite the
bullet. We could do the job quicker and more neatly if we had Europes aid
but we will do it in any case if we are big enough.
