Just to put things in perspective: according to estimates in the Economist's
"the World in 2003", the GDP of China in 2020 will still be significantly
behind that of the US and the EU. I don't have my copy at hand, so the figures
will not be exact, but the proportion will be indicative:
USA - approx 21 (trillion US$, I guess)
EU - approx 19
China - 5 or 6 (this is the figure I remember less clearly... could be as
high as eight)
