Another alternative is to get others in your local area to request the
same books from the library. Most city libraries have a policy that
if N people request the same book which the library doesn't have,
they'll order a copy.

Advantages of this approach (if it works in your area) are that it
gets a copy into the local library for others to use, and that it
drives sales of transhumanist books, which makes future transhumanist
books more likely.
