"good luck, how fortunate!"

I'm not including the identity of the poster of the above, because
this isn't meant as a criticism of that person. However, it reminds
me of something I've been meaning to post about.

Superstition is ingrained deeply into the fabric of our society.
There are many things that we say without thinking that indicate this
bent that most people have for the supernatural.

"Good luck on your test!"

"His company went public? How fortunate!"

And so on. I'm increasingly uncomfortable saying these things, but
have not come up with suitable replacements. I'd love to have them,
in the same way that we have Newtonmas.

Ideas?
