Hmm... would it be right to say that modern US and, perhaps to a lesser extent, European societies have lost their culture, or is the process of 'modernisation' itself a cultural artifact (of modern societies)? That is, are modern values the product of the dominance of one sucessful culture or are these values replacing culture (in its traditional static sense)?
