The idea of Black Holes was around long before 1925. Pierre Laplace talked about them in 1799, but he wasn't the first either. On November 27 1783 John Michell gave a talk to the Royal Society of London about something he called "Dark Stars". Chandrasekhar's acomplishment was in being the first to find a solution of Einstein's field equations that actually described such an object.
