I echo Randy's why, but remember two things. 1) Not everyone on this list is an Objectivist. Nor is every Extropian or transhumanist an Objectivist.

2) Being an Objectivist does NOT imply one isn't generous, considerate, or helpful to others. I don't want to be immodest, but I usually experience great pleasure from helping others.

I'm sorry that this is probably going to mushroom into a huge debate on generosity and the like.:/

On the original issue, How can one go about procuring cryopreservation in situations like Randy's uncle's? Has this happened before? What are the legal problems to be overcome?
