Merely, that we are, for whatever reason, content with things so far. Perhaps
Abe Maslow figures in the situation somewhere?

Spudboy,
Is it Abe Maslow or the person that called economics "the dismal
science?"
I don't know exactly how to describe what is going on -- words fail
me. A couple years back our President negotiated the deal that allowed us to
invest all we wanted in Vietnam and them to sell all the manufactured
products they wanted in this country while their country remained totally
closed to our salesmen. The President announced that deal as a triumph of
good government and we all went "wow." I don't know who was dumber, us or
the President?
