No. We cannot. We cannot destroy a meme system, especially one
that thrives on
oppression, by force. It will not and cannot work. You may
take away the power
of one part of the poltical side of one sect, but you cannot
thereby destroy
fundamentalism, Islamic or otherwise. In a country strongly
guaranteeing freedom
of religion it is very nearly anti-American to attempt to
destroy any religious
grouping per se. And, I would point out yet again what never
seems to sink in.
Terrorism is not identical with Islamic fundamentalism. Many
Islamic fundamentalists
are no more terrorists or supportive of terrorism than most
American Christian
fundamentalist are bombers of abortion clinics or supportive of
those who do such
things. It is very important to get that clear.
