This year's prestigious German Future Prize has been awarded to the inventor
of an electronic translating device which brings humanity one step closer to
the concept of Artificial Intelligence.
-------
The computer works in 'almost real time' and was developed as a business
application for a three-way conference call. It is the first of its kind in
creation and also works on mobile devices.

Useless hypotheses, etc.:
consciousness, phlogiston, philosophy, vitalism, mind, free will, qualia,
analog computing, cultural relativism, GAC, Cyc, Eliza, cryonics, individual
uniqueness, ego, human values, scientific relinquishment, malevolent AI,
non-sensory experience, SETI

We move into a better future in proportion as science displaces superstition.
